There was no broadcast of Pints With Punks this week. We were all too hung over and sick to do a show.
The third broadcast of Pints With Punks was a Ska night! Pick it up! Pick it up! Pick it up! With a room full of booze and minus Jeff and Bob, we chatted about our terrible eating habits, some gigs that we attended that week, like The Mapes final show at the Dive, Gilbert adopting a puppy, Facebook drama with certain bands, upcoming Local gigs, etc. We make fun of Matt's sexuality, then try to call Matt's mom and fail, and we crack some bad jokes, and very bad puns along the way. We played music by The Specials, The Selector, Judge Dread, Hepcat, Toots And The Maytals, The Clash, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Bad Manners, Be Like Max, and Prince Buster.
And we also had our first guests - Local filmmakers Jimi Nobu and Jim Stone from Dynamic Music Video, who tell of how they met The Civilians and Gilbert in particular. Jimi told stories of the old KUNV Radio days, of how their company Dynamic Music Video filmed 2 Civilians videos recently at Backstage Bar & Billiards when the band played a Biker fest there and Matt almost got killed by the bikers when he asked them for help and they said no. There was lots of shit talking about Local bands, lots more drinking, some crazy road stories, Civilians practice habits, tales of taco eating in Las Vegas, Jeremy's bachelor party, and the truth about Bob running things when he allegedly worked at KUNV. What a show!
The 2nd ever broadcast of Pints With Punks! Minus our compadre Jeff, we discussed The Civilians recent road trip to Tucson, AZ and playing at Gary's Place and a park on slanted concrete. We also talked about drinking booze (of course), odd numbered tattooed breasts, eating tacos @ Iguana's Cafe, the just released Star Wars: Battlefront game, all while hanging out with Jeremy's daughter Grace. Once she left the room we chatted about the recent Paris attacks, the passing of Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, upcoming Local gigs, and about the upcoming Civilians gigs with The Generators. We played some songs by French Punk bands like Plastic Bertrand, Les Thugs, Stinky Toys, Oberkampf, and Lion's Law, plus some tunes by Motörhead, Spinal Tap, Rose Tattoo, Cock Sparrer, Swingin' Utters, Toots And The Maytals, Bad Manners, and Joey Ramone. We told some Motörhead stories, took a call from Tommy, talked about the O.C. Weekly's 10 Best U.K. Punk bands, and listened as Bob annoyingly kept giving out the wrong phone number over and over and over again on the air.
The first ever broadcast of Pints With Punks. We talk about the Local music scene, Chatroulette, upcoming Civilians gigs and road trips, Punk Picnics, Punks In Vegas, tacos, the new/old Bunkhouse, and the It's Not Dead Fest, all while working out the kinks with the board and other technical issues like playing songs and taking phone calls. We played some songs from Teenage Bottlerocket, Cockney Rejects, Ramones, The Exploited, Marginal Man, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, The Civilians, Infest, Pig Children, Bishops Green, The Last Resort, and Cock Sparrer. We also called Matt's mom and took random phone calls from Jerry Only from Indiana, Matt's drunken dad, Larry Brown, a listener in Stone Mountain, Georgia, and we also talked with Gene Simmons of KISS, Don Knotts, and Jeremy's brother.
